Internship at M&O Partners
Three Norwegian students from the Norwegian School of Economics have embarked on a professional journey with M&O Partners, working in both Norway and Brazil, where they have gotten insight into diversity while focusing on how to overcome challenges and developing synergies.
International Culture and Diversity
Understanding the Brazilian culture and its diversity is key to doing business in Brazil. For international companies doing business in Brazil, this also means understanding their own culture. Without a good cultural understanding, additional challenges may arise, increasing costs and risks, which is why having a local partner is a preferred solution for many international as well as Norwegian companies doing business in Brazil. The Norwegian students discovered this themselves during their internship in Brazil.
“One of the most fascinating aspects of M&O is its international culture and the diversity of its operations. This diversity is also reflected in the company culture, which I would describe as very open and curious. M&O is a unique company, and I am grateful to be part of it.” – Erik Karlsen
Overcome challenges
With 15+ years of experience in Brazil, M&O has the know-how and track record on how to deliver success in the Brazilian market. The business environment is complex and can create great frustrations if you do not have sufficient local knowledge. This is why M&O have developed and offers a full-service platform for international companies wanting to have exposure and is looking to optimize their setup for Brazilian operations. Besides being a local sales partner, M&O is also a trusted partner for strategic and operational solutions.
“We have been working across several different companies in the group, working strategic challenges and developing internal solutions, as well as working on projects with external clients.” – Jonas Salte
Finding synergies
Even though there are differences between Norwegian and Brazilian culture, there are much common ground. With the right perspective, there are always potential for synergies, and this is where business opportunities will arise. This has been another insight the students have had while working with M&O.
“The synergy potential between Norway and Brazil is substantial, thanks to similarities in our natural resources base. Exchanging technology and talent can greatly benefit both nations. Living in Brazil offers a vibrant mix of cultural experiences, nature adventures, major cities, and stunning beaches. My time in Brazil has been incredibly rewarding, both professionally and personally.” – Oskar Skaug
The M&O team has gained significant insight from having Oskar, Jonas and Erik working close with us for almost a year. As a company built on promoting cross-border opportunities and development we are proud of working also with the educational institutions to support this early on.
“Having lived in Rio myself since 2022, it is with interest I see Norway’s and other nations need and willingness to continue developing their relations with Brazil. To have the three students onboard have been fruitful for us as a team and in the way of developing M&O and our services further; as well as building new bridges between the two countries” – Per Dysjaland, Head of M&A Advisory.
